Actor Portrayal

Hear women’s personal experiences with postpartum depression and ZURZUVAE

As many as 1 in 8 women report experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression (PPD) after giving birth. For Bethany and Katlyn, treating their PPD with ZURZUVAE® (zuranolone) helped make a difference.

These are Bethany’s and Katlyn’s experiences. The symptoms of PPD may be different in other women (see signs and symptoms of PPD here) and each individual’s experience with ZURZUVAE may also be different. This is not intended to be medical advice. Only a doctor can diagnose PPD and help find the right treatment option.

ZURZUVAE 50 mg or placebo was studied in women with PPD and was taken for 14 days with a 4-week follow-up. Improvement was demonstrated at Day 3 and Day 15 (the primary endpoint) using a standard depression rating scale. See study and results here.

I was short-tempered, irritable, and very sad. I thought if I didn’t get help, those feelings weren’t likely to go away.
I felt a difference in my PPD symptoms about three days into my treatment with ZURZUVAE. I remember going to the beach with my kids on the fifth day of my treatment. I felt hope in that moment for the first time in a long time. I want other women to be aware of their symptoms, and to ask for help if they need it.

I was a single mom and felt so alone. I lost motivation to do the hobbies I used to love. I felt like a failure—like I wasn’t a good enough mom. I stopped taking care of myself. Then I saw an ad on social media for a clinical trial for women with PPD. I really just wanted to feel better, and I decided that I really wanted to give it a chance.
I started feeling better and my PPD symptoms started improving within 3 or 4 days of starting ZURZUVAE. After the 14-day treatment, I felt motivated to get out of the house again—I started to enjoy old hobbies again. I was grateful to do these things without feeling so weighed down by my PPD.

“Only a healthcare provider can diagnose PPD, so I encourage women who are
struggling with their symptoms to talk to their healthcare team as soon as possible.”
